the road is long…with many a winding turn….

spent the weekend road tripping to Ottawa. i’ve never been there before in the winter, so it was a pretty cool experience. militant driving schedules, skating on the rideau canal, warming up to hot congee and world domination games, and playing with my mental equivalents (8 month old babies). fun times. who knew Ottawa could be so fun…especially after experiencing the other popular event in Ottawa – the tulip festival. pictures hopefully to come.

special shout out to linda, who continues to prove with everything she does that she should forever be known as phoebe mcnug.

"planning"

i spent most of the day today compiling a list of things that i need to do. strangely, i prepared a similar list of things to do last friday. and i thought about creating that list on thursday. oh yes, and i spent the remainder of the day talking about a list of things to do as compiled by someone else (and simultaneously thinking about how i would need to update my own list). based on my observations over the past 6 weeks, its seems that there a whole lot of people compiling lists, and having meetings about lists, but seemingly, nothing ever really gets done.

ah the real world....isn't it great?

ASIDE: i don't think this is any different really from oldfirm. except that i had a room with the door, so i could do my lists while blasting mp3s

Choice

hypothetically...

say your significant other has very bad taste. obviously, you can't choose all the time. so how often are you obliged to let them choose?

hypothetically of course...

on a completely unrelated note: i will never watch another japanese movie ever again. completely unrelated...

Superpoker / Superbowl v.1.0

All in all, it seemed like superpoker/supoerbowl v1.0 went over pretty well with the masses. 2 official tournaments pre-game, with over $200 in the pot for each. It was a bit of a work in progress, since I really had no idea what I was doing in organizing a tournament with that many people, but still, I think it worked out pretty well, and was reasonably civil. Congrats to the winners: jebon/dan, and Jason k in round 2, all well deserved. As for me, my game was poor, as usual, but I’ll blame that on the lack of concentration due to organizing the rest of the party.

the game was decent, the crazy side games were fun (matt mark is the champion of the first annual single hand mah jong grip challenge [record of 14 tiles]), and the food that people made / brought was great.

Shout outs to those who took the time to make or get food, and to bring supplies to the house. Your help was appreciated.

The squares game was a disaster, due to lack of organization. But it will be back with a vengeance next year, with a bonus $59 in the pot for all participants. For all you math junkies, that means your EV just went up about 25%.

Anyways, thanks to all for the fun and games, and we’ll see you next year.

HML

well, it was inevitable. HML has reared its ugly head, on my 28th official work day. in a nutshell, bullpen larry and his new group (that consists currently of only himself) has been deemed the saviour of bigtelco. his time frame to understand and come up witha plan to fix the world? 2 weeks. right.

ok. fine. can i get some staff then?

sorry. hiring freeze.

HML.

thanks to the friend who sent me this...
